A new documentary about the Israeli-American violinist Itzhak Perlman, “Itzhak”, is set to be released next month.
The movie, directed by Alison Chernick, is not just a biography of the world-renowned violinist, but it is more like an “impressionist portrait”; for this reason, some critics believe it will be appreciated more by Perlman’s fans than by those who are looking for further information about his life.
In any case, the documentary collects some of the most important moments in Itzhak’s life, starting from the early years, when polio occurred and he had his first appearance at the Ed Sullivan show at just 13, to recent days, including when he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama.
The Hollywood Reporter defined the documentary “A love story on so many levels – Perlman’s love of music, of the violin, of life itself!”.
‘Itzhak’ will open on March 9th in two theaters in New York City, one week later in Los Angeles and then in the rest of the world.
The movie was acclaimed after its premiere at the Hampton International Film Festival and received the “Audience Award” at the Miami Jewish Film Festival.
