Yamaha has released a video showing the famous dancer Kaiji Moriyama accompanied by a piano that translated his movement into music, thanks to AI and the Yamaha Disklavier Enspire piano.
The performance was held in Tokyo, at the end of November, in an event entitled “Mai Hi Ten Yu”, that was organized with the cooperation of the Tokyo University of Arts in order to present this new astonishing technology.
Using a system based on four kinds of sensors attached on the body of the dancer, the AI can identify his movements and create a suitable and synchronized melody, played acoustically in real time by the Yamaha Disklavier Enspire.
According to Yamaha this technology is still under development, but the company believes this performance is the first step toward a new form of art that will expand the possibilities for human expression.
The Yamaha Disklavier Enspire piano was exhibited in the Yamaha’s stand at Cremona Musica – Piano Experience 2017.
